All life on Earth depends on healthy oceans. They regulate our climate, produce half the oxygen we breathe, sustain the livelihoods of millions, and provide nourishment for billions of people. Despite their importance, the oceans are the least protected and responsibly administered areas of the world.

Blue Action Fund supports projects within the national waters of countries eligible to receive official development assistance, focussing on locations with high biological significance and which are already recognised as Marine Protected Area (MPA) or have the potential to get formal recognition as an MPA during the lifetime of the project.
