Ralph Kadel devotes one day a week to Blue Action Fund at no cost to the Fund. Ralph brings his expertise on development cooperation, grant programmes and implementation of field projects.
Ralph studied Agricultural Economics and Ecology before starting his career in development cooperation in 1986. He worked for the German International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – “GIZ”) and as independent Consultant in the natural resource management sector, mainly in Western Africa for 10 years. After his dissertation he spent five years in Ivory Coast as technical adviser for the support zone management around Taï National Park. In 1999 Ralph joined the KfW Development Bank. He started as Project Manager in Madagascar with a focus on investments and sustainable financing of the National Park system. In the Southern African Region he worked on the financing of Transfrontier Conservation Areas and the German Financial Cooperation contribution to the integrated Park Management System in Namibia and the Southern African Wildlife College. Between 2014 and 2017 he held the position of a Principal Economist for Biodiversity at KfW where he was instrumental in the preparation and establishment of Blue Action Fund.
